EEA FAMILY PERMIT - What happens after expiration?

Hello all,

I'm a BC and my husband is non-EU. We are currently in the UK and his current EEA Family Permit expires at the end of January, I'm hoping to send off his application form for Pre-Settled Status for the EU Settlement Scheme at the end of this week.

I'm just worried since it's taking a while for HO to process the applications and his status won't come in time before his permit expires. Is it possible to renew the permit in the UK? Does anyone have any information about this?
