Help with calculating processing time

Post by birkeneve » Thu Aug 15, 2019 9:54 am

I applied for an EEA Family permit on July 10.
Biometrics were done on July 26.
Received the COA on August 7.

“Please note that UKVI aims to complete all Visit and Points Based System Visa applications within 15 working days and all Settlement Visa applications within 12 weeks of the application date. If it is not possible to complete your application within this timeframe a member of our team will contact you to explain why. “

My questions are:

1: My application is an EEA Family permit based on Surinder Singh route. We qualify so that’s not an issue. What time frame am I looking at? The 15 working days or the 12 weeks?

2. Based on the above question: Is my application being processed by a: the application date, b: the biometrics date, or c: the COA date?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I’m a BC and my spouse recently got their EEA Family permit.

Time line

Application: 18 June
Biometrics: 16 July
Email confirmation: 25 July
Decision Email: 01 August
Passport with eea family permit dated: 30 July

I was also trying to understand if it was 3 weeks from doing biometrics or from the confirmation email from the decision centre on the UK but they decided within a week for us.

Good luck. You should know very soon. :)

Did you apply from with the UK or Out? If out, how did you get the passport back? Thanks for the response.

We’re feeling the crunch because my husband has to give notice to his job by month end and I’m going to be too pregnant to travel come year end.

We applied outside of the UK and I actually paid extra to keep my husband’s passport because it’s his only form of ID and his current visa for where we live is inside the passport.

I’m not sure how long they take to post pack the passport so I can’t answer that.

Did you receive an email when you were told the application had been approved?

The email didn't actually contain anything about approval.

It just said, "We're happy to inform you that a decision has been made on your application." And it told us to bring the passport to the place where we made our application.

We knew it was successful when we found the permit inside his passport.

Yeah it was exactly the same. Then they sent a second email asking us to take our passport to the centre within 10 working days :)

Hi,
I’m also preparing to apply for EEA family permit outside of the UK through Surinder singh
Can I ask how long you guys has lived in EU country?
We’d like to apply before the brexit if we can but it’s been only 8 months then and I guess it can be a bit tricky? And seems not genuine although we have enough dacuments?
Any advice on this? Should I wait and see what Brexit affect?

Thank you!

I'm sorry! I've just seen this, we lived there for 9 months as I was a language student :) Hope everything goes well!

Hello,

The EEA family permit is for 6 months and then you apply for 5 years through the EU Settlement Scheme (Surinder Singh) once you've arrived in the UK. :D
