Dependant of a WP holder - Can apply for in-country Tier 1?

Post by amar_c » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:42 pm

Hello
I have been through all the relevant websites for the new Tier 1 visa rules but i think i still need some clarification. I am an workpermit holder and my wife is with me on a dependant status. Now is it possible for her to apply for Tier 1 visa as an in-country applicant. If yes, can the maintenance funds requirement be shown in Indian Currency in any Indian Bank ?

Appreciate any response and advise on this.

Thanks
Amar

No, she has to apply from India. See :

You missed noting Employment and switching rules on the UKBA website, which clearly mentions that
Switching in to the points-based system
Dependants may not switch into any category of the points-based system in their own right. If your dependants later want to be in the United Kingdom under the points-based system in their own right, they will have to leave the United Kingdom and apply for entry clearance (permission to enter the United Kingdom).
Make an effort to search the forum for information already available related to your queries. For example, the answer to your query was already available here
