Citizenship after ILR in 10 (Long Residence)

Post by krishpa » Wed Oct 30, 2019 4:04 pm

Hi all,

I have got my ILR on 14th Dec 2018 and my wife has got the spouse visa for 2.5 years.

AND, wanted to know that when can I apply for British Citizenship(after a year)?? which will be in 14 Dec 2019. and should I renew(change any other visa category) for wife, or she can be on the same status of her visa as she is currently on(Family route)

Mainly, what are the documents should I submit and how long is the process roughly?

what are the stages in order to get the British passport as I am an Indian as we can't keep the dual Citizenship?

And, what are the things should I be aware?

Kind Regards,
Kris

Yes, you need to hold ILR for a full year.
which will be in 14 Dec 2019.

Yes.
and should I renew(change any other visa category) for wife, or she can be on the same status of her visa as she is currently on(Family route)
It is the same visa. Nothing changes.
Mainly, what are the documents should I submit and how long is the process roughly?
Passports, BRP, LIUK, English test/Naric etc.
what are the stages in order to get the British passport as I am an Indian as we can't keep the dual Citizenship?
Apply to naturalise as British. Once approved, book your ceremony. Once you have attended your ceremony and received your certificate, apply for your British passport.
And, what are the things should I be aware?
Make sure you were physically present in the UK on the same date in 2014 as the date you submit and pay online. Make sure you meet the absence limit requirements.

No. You are not repeating the visa and ILR process.
