Irish Cit - How many days am I allowed to leave?

Post by mhog » Thu Oct 31, 2019 10:40 pm

Hello,

I have my Stamp 4 through marriage to an Irishman from 2017.

I understand that I can't leave the country in the year before I apply for cit (with current legal precedent).

Is there any limit on the days I am allowed to leave in the other years? For example, I went on a 8 week backpacking trip with my husband this year. Even though it wasn't on the year before I apply, will I have to explain this trip in my application or will this cause trouble for me.

I understand I will have to delay my application by X amount days based on the how long I was gone for. Has anyone been refused for being away for too long in the years leading up to the year before you applied for cit?

Thanks in advance!

6 weeks per year is the stated guidelines, but if we end up with legislation on the matter it could be different.
