Processing has revved up now because they took on 80+ staff recently! Hopefully this means they'll whizz through the backlog now

Be aware that the staff are new!! I received address confirmation email Oct 31st. I replied with my current address, which seemed fine. Then Nov 4th I received another email... from the same person trying to confirm my address again. I once again replied with my current address......

I decided maybe I should call them just in case. Spoke to a nice guy on the phone who was able to confirm she did not receive my address confirmation. He pushed it along and confirmed my address over the phone with her. So I should be receiving it within the next couple of weeks now.

Be weary of the process because maybe not all of them are fully trained yet. If you see something suspicious like multiple emails for the same thing. Best to just call and get it sorted.

My Irish passport arrived today, putting my journey at an end (of sorts)!

So, my date of application was 27th Sept 2018, I received my FBR certificate on the 15th of October, 2019 and today is 6th November, 2019. Feels good man!

Just got the email confirming my address. Is it much longer after receiving this email?

I applied January 14th 2019. My documents were received in Balbriggan from Chicago USA on January 16th 2019.

Hi Bluegill

Wasn't there an estimate on the e-mail because a few members have mentioned a time frame of 2-3 weeks I believe on their e-mails or have been informed over the phone and both methods of communication but I am not sure if this is for all applicants around the world or just UK . Hopefully a member stateside can clarify this .

Hey everyone!

Just a quick query and hoping someone can help me out. I recently received my e-mail approving my FBR application and expect the certificate within the next couple of weeks. With regard to the passport application, I will be staying in the UK for a few months and was hoping to submit my fast-track application from there but can anyone assist with guidance about the proof of address/name requirements? If I was to get my name on the gas and electricity bills shared with another family member who lives in the UK would that be sufficient? Otherwise if anyone could suggest a way to meet this requirement I'd be very grateful so that I don't have to return all the way to Australia to apply!

Thanks in advance!
Hey Charlie,

Don’t know if this will help. I’m in a similar predicament (though admittedly a little closer to home). I reached out to the Stockholm Embassy today and they’ve advised that, as long as it has your name and the correct address, it can be from an approved source from another country.

E.g. I have letters from HMRC and Student Finance Company with my Swedish address on them. They are acceptable apparently! So that saves me a last minute jaunt back home...

Really hopeful that after my confirmation on the 18th I’ll be getting some post soon! Well, my parents will.

No no time frame. The agent just mentioned she was processing my application and was verifying my home address. I'm just guessing it'll be soon. I had a very straight forward application.

Second post in quick succession, sorry. On a whim, i contacted the lovely lady who'd helped me with confirming my address and she managed to confirm a tracking number and that my certificate had been printed. Apparently it's even on its way! There's a half decent chance I could get this sorted before Christmas... At this rate, I'll have a passport before I can even have a Swedish bank account, but that's another story for another thread...

Hi Sulla,

Latest update :-

Application sent to Edinburgh by Royal Mail Special Delivery 11 Dec 2018.

E-Mail received from Ireland on the 21 Mar 2019.

Phone message and E-Mail received from Balbriggan 14 Oct 2019, asking for confirmation of Home Address.

FBR Cerificate received Tue 5 Nov 2019, by International Recorded Delivery; so signature required by Postman on delivery. With the FBR Certificate an application for an Irish Passport is enclosed, meaning no chasing about looking for an application, which according to some reports I've read are in short supply !

Today 6 Nov 2019 I visited the Post Office at 136 West Nile Street, Glasgow and used the "Post Office Express Delivery Service" a checking service for Irish Passports which only a few PO's in the UK provide. Total cost £81.00, the counter clerk said it normally takes approx 3 week's for receipt of the "Coveted" Passport, she also told me if posted directly to Cork it may have taken up to 4 month's to be processed, whither that's true or not I don't know ?

From reading other post's, things definitely appear to be speeding up, supposedly they've taken on extra staff to cope with the huge increase of FBR applications.

Special thank's "again" to Sulla for all your hard work and perseverance, plus thanks to "jgclancy" for their best wishes greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Rob9

For those applying for their passport from UK I sent my application direct to Cork from southern England it was very quick:

Dispatched (Tuesday) 8th October 2019
Appeared on tracker (Monday) 14th October 2019
Printed/dispatched on tracker (Tuesday) 22nd October 2019
Received at home address (Saturday) 26th October 2019

18 days in total
7 working days on tracker

Didn’t have the option of express service but pretty quick direct!

Hello. New here, so please forgive me if this is the wrong place.

The grandparent through whom i am making my application does not have a current state-issued identification (from the UK). Both passport and driving license are out-of-date. Would a bus pass suffice? What other options do I have?

Thanks,
BJN

Shock horror!! The day has arrived, I am Irish!!!

Timeline

Application sent London 30/4/2018
Receipt email 15/5/2018
More info needed 3/10/18
All received and confirmed have everything they need 3/12/18
Email for address received in spam 1/10/19
Certificate delivered 7/11/19 dated 1/10

I am so glad and now to find someone with a stamp for passport application. I work in. Hospital so loads of eligible people but none with stamps and I doubt any have business cards. Not sure what to do. Any suggestions gladly received.

I think I will crack open the Jameson’s now

Hello. New here, so please forgive me if this is the wrong place.

The grandparent through whom i am making my application does not have a current state-issued identification (from the UK). Both passport and driving license are out-of-date. Would a bus pass suffice? What other options do I have?

Thanks,
BJN
How old is the passport? I had to resubmit my mother’s and it was then out of date and they said it was OK as recent. It was within 6 months. Might be worth calling them.

That's fantastic news Jacqui. Your FBR journey has been a real saga and I am so pleased to see that you successfully made it to the end. If you want a person with a stamp in the UK then your best bet would be a notary or solicitor. Alternatively, you could simply pay for a witness with no stamp to get one made. They are not expensive.

As Jacqui has said above, if the passport is expired under 6 months ago then there is a good chance they would accept it. As she mentioned, you need to call and confirm that this is OK and put a letter in with your application explaining the situation and what you were told to do over the phone - preferably with the name of the person who advised you to do it or a reference number they provide.

Alternatively, you could ask you grandparent to apply for a new passport. I realize that this imposes costs and hassles but it will also make things go more smoothly.

The third option would be to use other state issued photo ID such as a bus pass. In the past (old thread) this has been done in cases of the elderly. However, as with the expired passport option, this requires initial contact with the FBR department and approval. Once again, a letter explaining the situation and reference to who within the FBR section approved this is strongly advised.

Good luck

Congratulations Jacqui309! Your long FBR journey is finally over!

Out of interest, how long did the email sit in your spam before you noticed it / responded?

I received the confirmation of address email a week ago (Friday 1st Nov 2019) and I'm trying to judge how long it will take for the actual certificate to arrive. It appears it could take anywhere between 2-5 weeks based on others' timelines and your timeline.

Enjoy the Jamesons! :)

I called them on 3/10 to see if there was an update and after telling me they couldn’t believe they had any applications that old they told me the email had been sent. I found it and responded so just 2 days
