ILR - T2 General - Claim Tax Refund - HMRC

Post by kavisekhar » Wed Nov 20, 2019 2:37 pm

Hi

During 2017-18 tax year my husband had taken a tax refund, subsequently HMRC had come back stating the we have to pay additional tax and we paid it September 2018.
The reason we took tax refund was that in his earlier employment he had paid more tax however subsequently he got another employment with a higher salary in the same tax year .
So now the question is we taking tax refund and having paid back when notified by HMRC will it impact our ILR process.

Regards
Kav

1. Please do NOT tag your questions onto other users topics.

2. No, a tax refund if tax has been overpaid is not an issue.

Hi

Apologies for tagging with other topic will not do so in future
But please reply to this query alone
Our scenario is little different .
We claimed a tax refund but later notified by HMRC that tax is due from us and we paid .
Will it impact ILR.

Regards
Kav

This issue affected a completely different visa category and NOT the tier 2 route.

Thanks CR001. That's helpful.

But if a T2 Migrant gets his HMRC Record corrected by contacting them, in cases such as wrong Income reported by the Sponsor, Incorrect Tax Code, getting the paid Income Tax for the Tax year corrected/updated etc., would that be treated the same as was for the T1 Category and impact ILR?

Many Thanks for your advice CR001.

What are the scenarios for a T2 Migrant then which could have an impact? Could you please advise?

Can you please continue your questions in your own topic you already have and where you have been receiving advice instead of tagging on and hijacking another members post which i already split from your original topic for the same reason!!

Apologies CR001. I thought I am replying on my own Topic but didn't realise that I am tagging other user's post. Sorry.
