Here's a funny story to amuse you on a Thursday evening... File this under, 'pushing my luck.'

I'm in week 16 of waiting to be approved. On my original application (as a spouse of a UK citizen), I forgot to write my tax office name & address - no big deal, I was assured by the NCS. But I used it as an excuse to send an email gently enquiring about my application status, and apologising for not supplying the tax office info sooner. (I know, pointless exercise, but I got sick of waiting and doing nothing.)

Here is the brilliant response from the Liverpool office:

'Thank you for your enquiry.

Should you wish to make us aware of any changes to your circumstances, or wish to provide us with any information that you believe may support your application, you must write in to us. Unfortunately we would be unable to accept this information via email. The address is.....'

Ha ha ha, what a good joke! I especially liked the fact that the address was the same one listed in the signature of the person signing the email (Liverpool, in both cases). In other words, she is probably sitting in the mail room! But I still have to put the exact same letter in an envelope and post it. Sigh...

So I printed both emails and sent them this afternoon via recorded delivery. I'm not above paying more for postage just to show how inane their system is. I just wanna be British! I'm probably on their hit list now.
