Am I really eligible for Tier2 general

Post by Shubo1 » Tue Nov 26, 2019 5:38 pm

Hi,

Just been informed that my company may not be able to sponsor me as I am older than 26!

How is that possible?

Thanks

S

That applies only to new entrant salary rate. There is no restriction to sponsor based on a minimum age.

Thank you for your reply.
I am still confused.
My UK employer sent me the offer letter but now when HR is about to issue the cos they are saying that becauss I am over 26 and have only been offered £28,500 they are unable to proceed with my Tier2 application.

The UK employer had also done the full rlmt process.

Given my situation, are they right saying that I am not eligible for Tier2, I feel like HR is making it overly complicated.
I will appreciate your guidance on this please.

You need a minimum salary of £30,000 or what is stated in the SOC, whichever is higher.

Thanks, I think it is really unprofessional of them going through the whole process and now letting me know that they cannot sponsor me.

One last question, applicants below 26 year old, can be paid less than £30,000 and be sponsored?

Applicants below 26 or who are applying after studying on a Tier 4, are eligible for the new entrant salary.

What is the SOC for the job??

Hi,

Job advert salary was for £28,500 and I am 31.

I think the company should have specifically stated in the ad about age which they did not.

Or at the start of the hiring process they should have asked my age which would have saved a lot of hassle.

They cannot do that. It is considered age discrimination which isn't allowed in the UK.

That would have been more appropriate yes.
