Tier 2 General extension & IHS fees

Post by neeesz78 » Sun Dec 15, 2019 11:40 am

Hi All,
Currently applying to extend my T2 General visa (in the UK) - all good.
MY COS issued for 3 Years or less.

I don't need to pay for full 3 years on IHS , because after 1.2 year I will close 10 years legal residence
or if i decide to stay on T2 route settlement its only 2 year I need.

my question is - can I pay IHS fees for only 2 instead of 3 ?
in other word I will change work dates at payment stage on IHS website to be shorter by 1 year compared with COS ?
will this be an issue ?

Regards

No. You pay IHS based on the length of CoS and length of visa issued. If your CoS is for 3 years, you have to pay 3 years IHS.

You cannot do that, what you pay is wholly based on your CoS. You cannot choose to pay less because you might qualify for ilr. If you pay the incorrect IHS, ho will not proceed with the application and will write to you to pay the balance, causing a delay.

When and how you qualify and apply for ilr is completely irrelevant to the IHS payable for an extension.

Thanks for your feedback - do you think it’s possible to request my sponsor issues new Cos for 2 years ? I’m not sure if this option exists
Honestly I am just trying to save cost - it’s incredibly expensive and I don’t need 3 years

Yes you can ask for a 2 year CoS. They will have to withdraw the one you already have and issue a new one.
