Hi everyone,
I just have a quick enquiry. Is is possible for me to extend my current spouse visa early? Below is my immigration history:
- Post study work dependant (issued Feb 2012- entered the UK in April 2012) it was valid until Jan 2013.
- Tier 2 general dependant (issued Jan 2013- Jan 2016)
- Tier 2 general dependant- husband changed employer (issued July 2015- March 2018)
- Tier 2 geneal dependant- 3rd extension (issued May 2018- Jan 2019)
- Spouse visa- husband was granted ILR- long route (issued October 2019- April 2021)
I will qualify for ILR- long route in March 2022. To be more specific, is it possible for me to apply for an extension within the next 3 months? Or does it have to be within 28 days before the current visa expires?
Thank you very much.

You can apply for an extension at any time until your current leave expires.

Thanks very much Amber for your reply. I really appreciate it. If it's possible, could you please tell me where is it exactly mentioned in the immigration rules? I just need to show it to my husband as he's not sure it's possible
Once again, thank you very much I really appreciate it.

Not the immigration rules, but here's an official source:
https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa
See about a third of the way down the page under "When you can apply to extend or switch".
I'm just a guy on the Internet who immigrated to the UK. My opinions are based on my experience and interpretation of the immigration rules and should not be considered legal or immigration advice; your mileage may vary.

Maybe you are planning to apply before the application fee gets higher which usually happens in April. Good idea.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Hi everyone,
I just have another question please if anyone could help. Is it possible that I apply for my spouse visa extension and my husband applies for his citizenship at the same time? or do one of us has to wait for the other to receive a decision on their application?
I do have another question about my husband's citizenship application but I will post it in its proper forum so I don't mix everything together.
Thanks very much for your help and support.

Yes you can
They are two completely different and separate applications and rules/laws. Neither dependent on the other.
