I just wanted to double check if I meet the MIR. Currently my basic salary is £18360 however, I receive a fixed shift allowance due to the shift pattern I work. The total is £4300 a year. This shift allowance is spilt equally into 12 payments for each month. This is a salaried job.
My question is does the HO accept shift allowance as a form of income? In the guidance notes 5.5.7 it lists overtime, bonuses and commission based-pay however nothing about shift allowance.
Just to clarify aswell on my payslip it actually says shift allowance so it isn't over time etc. I know that only payments that already have been paid will be counted and not any future payments. These payments are calculated as non-salaried as stated in the guidance notes/averaged out over 6 months. Therefore based on that this is how I work out that I meet the MIR:
Basic pay per month = £1530.00
Shift allowance per month = £358.33
£1530 x 12 = £18,360.
£358.33 x 6 (for 6 months equal payments) = £2149.98 / 6 = £358.33 X 6 = £2149.98
£18360 + £2149.98 = £20,509.98
By my calculations above I believe I meet the MIR.
Is my calculation correct as stated above? And is shift allowance taken into account? Thank-you in advance!
