Tier 2 General- is IELTS required?

My wife has a bachelors degree with English as the medium from a deemed university. We are applying for a tier 2 General visa. Do we need to take this exam?

Who is applying? Is it you or your wife.

The main applicant must satisfy English language requirement at B1 level. This could be either through IELTS or UK NARIC (red route)

No language requirement for dependents.
