yeah, I had gotten one about 2 years earlier from RCMP which took 4-5 months. This one was quicker - maybe because I was already in the system from the previous request it was easier for them to do?

My wife was speaking to a Non_EU couple who applied for LTR mid November 2006 and whom received a letter asking for the police clearance cert mid July 2008.

It looks that it takes 20 months at the moment for the LTR to be processed, with a little bit of luck.

Unfortunatelly I don't have any other details about this case.

guys,

just a little update for my case. i wrote a letter to GNIB about my long term residency which i applied in November 2006. a week after. they sent me a letter saying that they only processing October 2006 application. 10 days after. i recevied a from GNIB and asking for the police cert. i guess they really wait 20 months before they open people's application.

Hi mktsoi,

Do you remember when in November you've applied?
Was it begining , mid or end of November?

it was in late november because i remembered that i went of in 20 something in november and i put it in gnib myself in 20th november.

if you applied before me, i advice you that write a letter and ask them it has been more than 18 months like they mentioned in the inis website. thats what i did and they wrote back to me with the good letter!

so good luck.

Thank you very much for the update.

It's not for me, but for my wife, she re-applied in early December 2006.

We hope to get some good news in August maybe.

i would say just drop a letter to them and say it has been more than what they claimed in their website. otherwise, your wife file might be still sitting with someone newspaper inside gnib. but good luck.
