Query - Extending Tier 4 Visa

Post by AKANTONY » Wed Jan 08, 2020 8:41 am

Hi,
This query is for one of my friend who is on Tier 4 and his visa would be expiring on 31/01/2020. Is there any chance for him to extend his visa, if yes for how long he could extend it for? What will be its procedure then?

Kind Regards
Arun

Probably best to ask your friend to register on the forum and ask their own questions and state their full immigration history and course details etc etc.

hi

I am his friend, right now I am in Tier 4 Student visa.
Is there any option for me to extend my stay in UK for at least 2 months, I have heard about FLR - Further leave to remain, but I couldn't find much about it in the home office website

Post by roshreji » Wed Jan 08, 2020 3:15 pm

Hi

currently I am in UK in my tier 4 student visa. I finished my course, I would like to know whether I can extend my student VISA to 2 or 3 months.

I have heard about the FLR, but couldn't find much about it...

Thank You

If you have finished the course, what is the purpose of an extension??

Unlikely you would be able to extend your student visa as your course has finished and you are simply trying to buy time.

Your existing Tier 4 visa includes a fairly generous 7- or 9-month window within which to secure employment and switch to Tier 2 if you wish. The earliest you can apply is 3 months before the end of your course, and the latest is the end of your visa which is normally 4 months after the end of your course, although at some universities it is 6 months.

If you are unable to secure Tier 2 sponsorship and make an application by the end of your Tier 4 visa, you will need to leave the UK. You can still be sponsored for a Tier 2 visa but you would need to apply in your home country. Crucially your employer would have some extra tasks if you apply at home (Resident Labour Market Test, restricted CoS, Immigration Skills Charge) so they need to know as soon as possible if you will be applying outside the UK.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
