British Citizenship and Passport

Post by krisv » Sat Jan 11, 2020 12:35 pm

Hi,

I am going to apply for Citizenship and passport and have a few queries.

1. Can all supporting documents be scanned when applying online?

2. Is the passport being applied for at the same time or do I have to do it later, after grant of citizenship?

3. Can anyone point to the latest process for the online application as I can find that you can apply using the paper application as well. I would like to know which one is the most pain free method of application?

Many Thanks.

1. Yes, once you have paid and booked your biometrics appointment, then you upload your documents.

2. No, passport can only be applied for once you are british, after you have attended your ceremony.

3. You should apply online only https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ne-form-an

Thank you CR001.

One more question regarding referees:

Extract from online application: "You must download a copy of the referee declaration form. You must have both copies signed by both of your referees and include them when you provide your documents"

Does each copy of referee declaration form need to be signed by both referees on one form for each referee?

Thanks

Each referee signs their own form, no need to sign the other.

Thank you for your replies.

Next question.
My history is Student visa 2009, PSW, Tier 2 for 5 years, ILR received 2017.

I have now applied online and booked biometrics on 24th.

I am looking to upload documents and logged into Sopra Steria.

Under mandatory documents, only my passport is being shown as required.

Residence in UK, Education, Finance etc, etc are shown as optional.

The document checklist I downloaded just after submitting my application shows I need to provide:

LITUK
2x references
UK degree certificate

I thought that these were mandatory documents? Will it be OK if I upload it onto the optional section?

Or is it worthwhile to pay £45 for Sopra Steria to upload my documents during my Biometrics appointment??

Many thanks,

krisv

And you would be correct, all three items listed are mandatory and the document checklist that you have provided is indeed correct.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the "new" UKVCAS system and the Sopra portal. If it were me, I would upload copies of all that is mentioned as required in the document checklist.

As to whether you should pay the extra £45 for them to do it, that's a personal decision. Call me a sceptic, but I personally don't think it's worth it if all they do is scan the papers. That's basically "free money" to them for virtually nothing in return.

Note that HO reserve the right to ask for the originals if they deem it necessary regardless of what is provided to them by UKVCAS, including if something is required but missing. In such a case they will get in touch with you directly.

My document checklist downloaded after submitting application shows:

Sopra Steria document upload portal shows:

102.JPG

Only my passport is asked for under the mandatory section, proof of application.

Where shall I upload the rest? Is it OK to upload in the optional section?

Also, do I need to provide proof of residence in the UK, such as council tax bills, bank statements etc??

A bit of clarity would be appreciated..

It doesn't matter as long as it is uploaded.
Also, do I need to provide proof of residence in the UK, such as council tax bills, bank statements etc??

Another question.

I was contracting as a director of a limited company for 9 months, from July 2017 to March 2018, i.e. after I got my ILR. I was in Tier 2 general before that.

From March 2018, took up a permanent position again and closed the company to not have any further self assessments.

I have declared this in my application and I have paid all taxes due and all income declared.

Do I need to provide any self assessment records even though this has not been asked for?

Thanks.
