Spouse Visa Application Help

Post by Mac_ » Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:11 pm

Hi there,

I am looking for some guidance.

I have applied for my wife's spouse Visa application as per the details below... I have noticed that others who have applied after me (i.e done their biometrics after me via the same priority service) have had their Visa decisions already, yet I am still waiting, is this normal?

I have called HO several times now to get an update and keep getting told that it is still awaiting a decision.

Settlement
Priority Application
Online Submission 18/11/2019
Documents Uploaded 27/11/2019
Biometric Appointment 10/12/2019
E-mail from ECO 11/12/2019
Call to Sponsor Nothing yet
Call to Employer Nothing yet
E-mail to collect passport Nothing yet
Passport collected Nothing yet

I called UKVI on 30/12/2019 for an update and was told still awaiting a decision!

I called UKVI again on 09/01/2020 for an update and was told still awaiting a decision!

You’ve only been waiting 23 working days and already rung home office twice. Priority service is within 30 working days or so which is 6 weeks and not guaranteed either

Your 30 days is on 21st January.

Hi,

I understand it is not guaranteed and that it is within 30 working days. What I want to know is how come others who have done their biometrics after me have had their visa decisions before me? Like is this normal or not?

The cases are reviewed on a case to case basis therefore I don’t think it is a ‘first come first serve’ There are a high number of people applied towards the end of 2019 and what with the public holidays, I am expecting some delay, even to priority.

I agree in the sense that considering it costs such a large sum, they should keep one informed of the progress or some way to track, but at the moment there isn’t.

It’s waste of money callling them as they won’t escalate it until it is 30WD. If after 30WD days and you hear nothing then involve your MP to escalate it for you.
My opinions should not be constituted as an immigration or legal advice.

Hi

Oh right. I wasn't aware of that. I thought it was a first come first serve basis.

Hi

Thanks for this information. I will make sure not to contact again as I end up being charged around £5 per call.

Did you have a similar experience? If so, did you escalate after 30 WD & how long after that did you get a decision? Did you do it via your local MP?

Instead of the call, you can use the email option which cost over £5 but can be used over time till the matter is resolved.

Hi

Really? Is it just a one-off fee even if I chase up the same inquiry over and over again until it is resolved?

Should I do this now or wait till the 30 WD has elapsed?

Yes, it is a one off fee till that particular matter with the reference number you will given is resolved. For escalation you will be told by contact center personnel to allow 30 days before they go the escalation route.

Thanks, I will try that also after the 30 WD IF I have not heard back till then.

Also, how long do they have to respond with a decision once they have escalated?

I called UKVI again on 09/01/2020 for an update and was told still awaiting a decision!

I got a call on 16/01/20 from the Home Office but as I was at work I told them I could not speak so we rearranged for a call back in the morning today (17/01/20). The call went well in my opinion, I was asked questions in regards to my Mrs and my work, etc & they said that a decision will be made either today or next week. Please pray for a positive result In Shaa Allah.

I called UKVI again on 23/01/2020 for an update and was told that a decision has been made! We are now awaiting the email/SMS to inform us that the passport has been sent via courier as we paid extra to have it sent back to us via courier as opposed to having to go collect it. We will find out what the decision is once we receive the passport back. I am hoping In Shaa Allah this happens early next week at the latest.

Kind Regards
