Hi OP,

I have got a question. Suppose someone completes a Master's degree and he has not received the degree certificate but his student visa is going to finish.

Could he apply with Uni letter but without the certificate?
PSW application has asked for certificate. But if he waits for that then he will overstay. Has anyone got any opinion on that?

Hi Ashini,

Some people who applied for IGS(not psw) in the last week of june are getting their passport back now(this week). For example, sent on 25th june= recd 22 july and sent 27 june= recvd 24 july. So its taking complete 4 weeks for the last weeks igs cases. I believe we are the next weeks candidates and it will take complete 4 weeks for us as well to recieve the passport back. like you sent on 1st july=recv 29 july and me sent 2nd july=recv 30 july.

Thats the best theory i could come up with. Let me know if you have any other info on this. Best of luck for your application.

Thanks.

Maintenance Funds

Post by lijophilip » Thu Jul 31, 2008 6:23 pm

Hello All,
I am planning to apply for PSW. However just a quick question regarding the Maintenance Funds. I have enough amount in my account but had been there for just 3 weeks. I cannot wait for 3 months because I finished my course last year and cert issued in August. Is there any relaxation on the funds part??
Please can someone advise and help me???
regards/ Lijo Philip

yes. till october there is no requirement for minimum reserve fund as a transitional process. You have to show a balance of minimum 800 GBP in your account before applying (although the bank statement should be of min 3 months).

check in the PSW form, it is described at the end of it.

let me know if you have any info on process time of PSW.

Hi Anirban,
Is this transitional process where maintenance funds is relaxed, is it applicable if applied from India as well?? Because if applying from india minimum funds required is GBP 2800.
With regards to the process time, as per VFS, it is 4 working days. But not very sure about the actuals.
cheers

For applications made overseas, the applicant must show they have £2800 in their bank account at the time they make their application (again this is until 31 October 2008). After 31 October 2008, applicants must show they have had £2800 in their bank account at all times for the 3 months immediately prior to making the application.

Thanks but I was asking in country processing time for PSW.

I don't think this is the case. Transitional arrangements for maintenance is only available when apply within the uk. For applicants outside the UK you still need to show you have maintained the balance for three months.

refer the post by nejine http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=28882 where it was rejected since the account wasn't mainatined for three months. For further information refer the last page of the guidance http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/siteco ... idance.pdf

Hello,
Maintenance funds is basically a way to show that the candidate will be able to take care of his needs in the UK without using any recourse to public funds. In this case if I show a UK company offer letter, will that be of any good?? while still showing GBP2800 but for a period less than 3 nonths???
Please advise!!

Hi Anirban,

I have been following this thread for a while now. I am in a similar situation. I applied for PSW (initial application) on 9th July (fee deducted on 10th, acknowledgment letter received on 17th) and still awaiting a decision from HO. Have you heard from them on your application?

Has anyone got a Post Study visa stamped on their passport from an initial or transitional application?

Thanks

For me there is no news till date. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks over for me. There is no news from Ashini yet, I presume she is the only one who has got PSW stamped(transitional) but no confirmation.
