Tier 2 dependent visa extension. IHS Healthcharge enquiry

Post by xkcdcode » Wed Jan 29, 2020 4:57 pm

Hi,

I am in a very similar position ... my wife's current Tier 2 dependent visa is expiring on 12 Feb 2020 but she will be eligible for ILR in June 2020.

Will it be ok to put the husband's ILR expiry date as June 2020, so that she only has to pay the IHS of 1 year?

No it won't. A tier 2 dependent extension is granted for 3 years if you hold ilr based on tier 2. You cannot apply for a lesser visa validity. The 3 years is dictated by the immigration rules and there is no discretion. It is not a choice you can make.

If you don't pay 3 years IHS, the application won't be processed until you do.
