Citizenship ceremony- registrar mistake

Hello again,
Hoping for more advice please.
Citizenship ceremony was this morning, but the registrar wrote the wrong date for today’s date. She took the certificate back, gave a photocopy with a hand written note on it, and said she would arrange a new certificate from the home office.
Called the UKVI helpline, who were not very helpful. Said they’d never heard of this before and basically didn’t want to help.
So
1) does the BRP still need to be returned within 5 days, as the certificate here is only a photocopy.
2) any idea how long we have to wait
3) is it possible to apply for a passport using this photocopy. Registrar seemed to think it was ok, but UKVI helpline was “absolutely not” despite never heard of this scenario before.

I don't believe HMPO would accept a photocopy. Also consider that even the photocopy has an invalid date on it.

It's possible to correct erroneous certificates for a fee (£250). But as it is an official mistake, they will correct it for free but it might take some time.

As you attended the ceremony, you are British even if you don't have a certificate in hand at the moment.

Was hoping to go on holiday in couple of months so hoping it’s a quick error to correct. Existing passport no longer valid as no dual nationality allowed.

Any experiences here of timescales?

3 Weeks. Excellent. They played quick. Anyway it was an error from an authority.
