References for British Citizenship

Post by khan_80 » Thu Jan 30, 2020 9:41 am

Hi All
Last year I got my ILR on 28th Jan 2019, which means now I am eligible to apply for Naturalization/British citizenship, as back 5 years ago I was present in the UK as well.

My question is about the References we need to provide. I have below questions.

1) Can the References we give can be Friends?
2) Can they be Lawyer (foreign qualified) not solicitor as for solicitor they need some British qualification to pass ?
3) Who need to be Professional Person, Reference No 1 or Reference No 2 or both ?
4) Can a Person who is working in Private Firm as HR Data Analyst be our Reference ?

Thanks

Yes a friend can be a referee insofar as they’re not related to the applicant.

One should be British and the other a professional. See here (click) for a list of acceptable persons.

Hi Amber
As per this guidance Post Office Official can be used as Referee. Does it means any Post Office Worker can be used as Referee like Person working in the Post office Branch who we gives our post when we miss the special delivery and then gets from them.

2nd Question can we just fill one single form for both Naturalization and British Passport. Is there any link for such application.

Thanks

Whoever you use, both referees must know for a minimum of 3 years.

No there is no longer such a service. It was discontinued in November 2018. You can only apply for a passport once you have attended your ceremony.

          Hi All
Just one last question, as my Wife and Kids time for Naturalization will be completing in April 2020, is there any news that Kids Application fee for Naturalization will Reduce to 372 or around as that decision Win by High Court, or It will Remain the same.

Does any one know any news about this , so that I can delay my Kids application if there is a chance that application fee for kids will be reduced later.

          Thanks

No change to fees as yet. Ho likely to appeal the judgment. Note the fee reduction, if done, will likely apply to UK born children as that is what the case was about
