Tier 2 extension salary requirement

Post by Blattes » Fri Feb 07, 2020 8:11 pm

Hi there
I am due to extend my visa in July this year, my initial tier 2 visa was issued for 3 years and now I will have to earn experienced rate. However my SOC code 3422 is a level 4 (eligible for tier 2 for being creative sector) and experienced rate is £25,700. I only realised it might not be enough. I have read where it says experienced rate or £30,000 whichever is higher for extension? Is that correct? If it is, I am planning to apply in April, is there any chance the threshold might increase? Thank you.

This applies to employer switch or experienced entry clearance from outside the UK.

Note that for ilr your salary requirement is a lot higher than the SOC experienced salary.

Thanks for fast reply, really appreciated! Can you please send me a link where it says this only applies in those conditions?

Am I correct to think that £25,700 on 37,5hours will be enough for my extension to be approved then?

I don’t think I will be able to get IRL anyway, I will have to change to spousal visa after my next Tier 2 but thanks for letting me know!

£25,700 is based on 39 hours per week and if you don't meet that, it will be refused.

The tier 2 policy guidance makes reference to the £30k salary requirement.

39:37.5 x 25,700 would be £26,728. Am I right?

I will have a look. Thank you very much!

Hi CR001

I had a look at tier 2 policy guide and number 83 refers to appropriate salaries which is saying £30K or higher when applying for extension:

If only your initial grant is before 24/11/2016 you are exempted. Mine is 2017 which means it would be minimum £30K for me?
