Naturalisation for Kids alone without parents

Post by afzalfinance » Fri Feb 07, 2020 7:54 am

Please help me on my following questions. Thanks for anyone who take time to read and anyone that can help.

I got my British Nationality in 2017 and my wife and two kids who arrived in UK in June 2013 got their ILR in August 2018.

My wife applied for her Naturalisation in Dec 2019 which is still in process and not yet decided. The only reason for not applying naturalisation for kids along with my wife was not enough money to pay the fee togather for all three.

Now I was applying for my two kids (Son 10 Year and daughter 7 years) and was not sure of some answers as follows?

PERSONAL INFORMATION SECTION:
Who does this email belong to? options are THE APPLICANT / IMMIGRATIUON ADVISOR / SOMEONE ELSE

Are you completing this form on behalf of someone else?

Life in the UK test? If I answer No then its ask Are you claiming exemption from this ? If you choose YES then its ask to fill a form for exemption and send it along.

Knowledge of the English language?

Contact email? so should I enter my email address or Mark I dont have an email address and then enter email in another section where they ask any email that can be used to contact?

Thanks
God help those who help themselves

You do NOT complete form AN for children, which appears to be what you are doing. Form AN is only for adults.

You need to complete form MN1.

Thanks CR001.
Yes I was doing this blunder.

Consideration under British Nationality Act

So in form MN1 after choosing
You were born outside the UK
what will be the correct option to choose from following in our scenario:

Your parent is British by descent and lived in the UK or a British Overseas territory for at least 3 years before you were born

Your parent is British by descent and you and your parents (unless they are legally separated) are now living in the UK or a British Overseas territory

You were born on or after 13 January 2010 and your parent was serving in the UK armed forces (NOT FIT)

You were adopted abroad by British citizen parents (NOT FIT)

You were born before 1 July 2006 to a British father and your parents were not married (NOT FIT)

One or both of your parents is applying for British citizenship (ONE IS BRITSH AND MOM APPLICATION IS UNDER PROCESS)

Other - apply at the discretion of the Home Secretary

Help on MN1 Form

Post by afzalfinance » Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:50 pm

Please help :
I got my British Nationality in 2017 and my wife and two kids who arrived in UK in June 2013 got their ILR in August 2018.
My wife applied for her Naturalisation in Dec 2019 which is still in process and not yet decided. The only reason for not applying naturalisation for kids along with my wife was not enough money to pay the fee togather for all three.

Now I was applying for my two kids (Son 10 Year and daughter 7 years) and was not sure of some answers as follows in form MN1

QUESTION: Consideration under British Nationality Act

ANSWER CHOSEN: You were born outside the UK

QUESTION: Consideration under British Nationality Act
ANSWER: Other - apply at the discretion of the Home Secretary

QUESTION: Register child as British citizen (options are YES / NO)

ANSWER: In case of NO it may be wrong as my wife case is in process who applied in Dec 2019 and I have got my nationality throught AN form years ago
If i choose YES then it asks

QUESTION: Register child as British citizen
ANSWER CHOSEN: I would still like my child (as stated in this application) to be registered as a British citizen even if my own application for British citizenship is refused.

First I am not sure if above answers are the correct options if yes then at some latter stage following question appears WHICH LOOKS IRRELEVANT BUT UNAVOIDABLE

QUESTION: Grandparent details

AND IT ASK AS FOLLOW:

Provide details of your grandparent from whom your mother or father derived British citizenship by descent.

QUESTION: Register child as British citizen (options are YES / NO)
Unclear what the whole actual questionis. We don't have sight of the online forms.

For grandparent details, are you sure you have not out somewhere that you are British or something. Again, we can't see the online forms and questions.

Otherwise simply answer not applicable
