Citizenship ceremony in another council?

Post by anandb » Tue Feb 11, 2020 3:51 pm

Hi,

I have received approval letter of my naturalisation application and have now booked the ceremony for mid April with my Southwark council in London - no slot was available before that.
I was wondering if there's an option to book the ceremony with another council where there's availability over the next 2-3 weeks? Just want to complete the process quickly.

Thank you,
Anand

Hello

Simple answer: YES

Long answer: NO

Your certificate has been sent to your council. If you want to go with another council, then the certificate has to be returned to the Home Office then again sent to the council you prefer. That can take a long time really. So you are better off finding a suitable option with your local council.
