Tier 2 Gen - SMP Pay

(Asking on behalf of my friend)

My friend is expecting baby in month of June 2020 and she wanted to be clear on following point,

1. SMP which is paid, is it on top of actual monthly salary (eg: 2000 is monthly salary before SMP kicks is, will it be 2000 + SMP or just SMP paid to the employee)

As always, will be highly grateful for providing your inputs on same.

So to be clear she will get 148.67 per week after initial 6 weeks on maternity leave and not her actual take home salary ?

Apparently yes. SMP is not a like for like earning to your salary. She also has to meet the working weeks requirment to qualify for SMP.

Note that how much her employer pays her depends on their policy regarding maternity pay.
