change of employment for another 5 years tier 2 when you have already 2 years tier 2.

Post by aminnaji » Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:18 am

Hi,
I already have tier 2 visa since September 2018 which means I currently hold about 1.5 years tier 2 visa with my current employer.
I am going to change my employer in the next few months and the new employer gave me Certificate of Sponsorship letter for another 5 years.

So, I am just wondering if I can apply for another 5 years under tier 2 with a new employer, having said that 1.5 + 5 years are more than 6 years.

if I can't apply for another 5 years, should I ask my new employer to change the CoS?

anyone can advise me please?

Thanks.

You will not get a visa that takes you past the 6 year limit allowed on tier 2, regardless of a 5 year CoS being assigned.

thanks for your reply,

so should I ask from my new employer to change the end date in CoS, in order to make sure it has not passed the limit of 6 years?

It makes ho difference. Ho will not issue you a visa extension that goes past 6 year tier 2 total, regardless of a 5 year CoS assigned.

Do you mean my visa application will be rejected if the end date on the CoS passed the limit of 6 years?

FYI, I need to make a clear again that I am changing the employer

No you will be granted visa with an end date such that the total time you have spent on Tier 2 is not more than 6 years. The end date of CoS doesn't necessarily mean the end date of your visa
