IHS fees for spouse visa as sterling falls

Post by omar1978 » Sun Mar 22, 2020 11:56 am

HI
Yesterday I was trying to make online partner(2.5 year) visa application for my spouse currently living in Bangladesh and at the end of online application IHS fees i paid $3808 (about £3200). I was surprised as home office web side states IHS fees currently £1000 for 2 and half year spouse visa for a British partner. Later i didn't pay for the application fees.
Could someone please let me know why the asking IHS fees is $3808 and at this point can get it(IHS) refund as i didn't pay for the application fees though online application is submitted?

IHS is £1200 for an initial visa outside the UK plus £1523 visa fee. The cost in foreign currency depends on the oanda.com rate set periodically by ho.

Unclear what the breakdown of the fee of $3808 iss you have paid.

really appreciated for your reply. i called HO and they said possibly you paid IHS fees $3808 mistakenly.
As i requested they said it will be refunded but not sure about the application status.
Could you please tell me if can i cancel the submitted application now and try to re apply???

are you including the application fees within the number?

Fees in local currencies are currently 15 or so % higher as UKVI is still using the old exchange rates and £ has depreciated but this will not be anywhere close to the number you are quoting

Are you 100% sure this is not the total fee payable, ie. visa fee and IHS together, as you say you didn't pay applciation visa fee??

Which application form exactly have you completed?

There is no visa that has a £3200 IHS fee.

The ukvi currency exchange rate shouldn't be so higher because they use oanda currency calculator which usually stays up-to-date. I suspect you might have chosen wrong option but if not then definitely there must be error on their website.
