Tier - 2 Min salary requirement for Shortage occupation

Post by Srusti » Mon Mar 23, 2020 6:52 pm

Hi Experts, my apologies If am starting a new topic which already exists.

I have got a quick question and I want to know what is the shortage occupation salary bandwidth for the tier 2 applicants? I was in the impression that there is no minimum salary requirement whilst switching from tier 4 to tier 2.

Thanks in advance
S

Thanks for your response,

My SOC code is 2123 and it falls under the current shortage occupation list.

Thanks CR001 again , does the criteria change for NHS applicants?

Just to give you a back ground of my situation, I have got a job offer with NHS - band 5 (£24907.00 per annum). I have got 2 CoS for the same job, one with SOC code 2123 and other one with SOC code 3113. Which CoS should I use for my visa application that will satisfy the salary requirements and the minimum RQF level requirement(If at all it applies to NHS).

Your input will be much appreciated!

You cannot have two CoS in your name.

SOC 2123 is for an electrical engineer. What job exactly is this in the NHS??

There is no rqf level 6 SOC of 3113 on the list!! What job is this for?

Did you get the cos from the employer directly, ie the NHS trust?

There is a set list for NHS staff, table 9 in the link I provided.

A: Job Title is 'Senior Biomedical Electronics Technician'

There is no rqf level 6 SOC of 3113 on the list!! What job is this for?

A: 3113 is RQF level 3 (given in Table 7 - Appendix J)

Did you get the cos from the employer directly, ie the NHS trust?

A: Yes, They initially gave me a CoS with SOC code 3113. But I told them to generate a new one with SOC code 2123 because I read that for Tier 2 the job should be atleast RQF level 6. Now I am not sure whether NHS is allowed to hire even on RQF level 3 or not.

There is a set list for NHS staff, table 9 in the link I provided.

I have gone through the list but unfortunately it did not answer my above questions

You can't have two cos in your name.

It is also not up to you to decide what SOC it applicable to a job. It is the employer that has to make that decision

2123 is also not the correct SOC as you are not then an electrical engineer as described in the SOC.

In the link I provided, scroll down and it is the last drop down list, table 9 health care workers.

You cannot be sponsored for a job that is not a rqf level 6.

I believe the NHS has some kind of flexibility in terms of hiring foreign candidates due to the shortage of workers for the health system, but I am not sure what is the extension of this. You might need to do more research.

You don't need to stress yourself that much in terms of salary, as long as you have a CoS with the appropriate SOC code, according to your job/qualifications.

From my experience, I switched from a Tier 4 to Tier 2 under a SOC 2127 and my salary was way lower than the suggested for an experienced worker: £33,100, and I didn't have any problems with my application for that reason.

Thanks Lolo2 for sharing your experience.

I think it also changes between the NHS trusts (of different districts / counties).

Hope my application is not rejected on that basis.
