Joining work after applying before decision - coronavirus

Hello everyone
I am in the process of applying for change of employer under Tier 2.

I saw the new guidance at:

It says you can join the sponsoring company as long as you have applied before expiry of current visa and assigned a CoS with the same job as mentioned in the CoS.

The section this is mentioned as if its a subsection for "If you are in the UK and your leave is expiring before 31 may".

However in the following guidance for the sponsoring companies it does not mention any visa expiry date:

Does anyone know if this is only for the people whose leave is expiring before 31 May or for others as well?

You mean one can also switch visa to TIER 2 even though their visa is expired after May 2020. Do you get any news about this?

I'm going to move to another company, which means I need a new T2 sponsorship. But my current visa won't be expired until the end of September. So I think it is nothing to do with the expiration date - you can apply T2 as long as you have a CoS number (i.e. someone wants to sponsor you).

I am switching from ICT dependent to Tier 2 general. Usually it is done from home country. My visa is expiring on July 2020 so I want to know whether I can switch from UK itself.

For everyone. If it helps you, I was switching employer, applied for new visa but haven't managed to schedule biometrics yet. I started new job this week under these new guidelines.
My previous visa haven't expired and wasn't due to expire in May - I didn't get curtailment letter.

Thanks for the update. How long did the CoS issuing from the company take? Did it have any delay?

No delays at all. If employer has stock of unused unrestricted certificates, CoS is issued immediately as I understand.

as i am currenlty also going to start with my new employer from july, i got the CoS from them and i applied 2 weeks ago. i used the 'extend' Tier 2 general option online application where we fill sponsor details and current status.
did any of you recieved emails from homeoffice, one saying 'sorry for inconvience caused by covid sitiation' and another asking for documents ?

My visa (T2G Dependent) expires in 2022 but I need to switch to T2G as my employer is ready to sponsor me, even they got COS approved in April.

I will not be able to go to India to apply. So Can I apply here itself?

Hi professor_nairobi - can you please update if you get any movements/clarity with your situation? I'm in the exact same scenario as you: T2G Dependent expiring in 2022 but needing to make the switch to T2G as as my COS expires in June 11 >.<

I'm emailed Home Office to get clarity on this - based on some stories in this thread it might actually be possible so I will update you when I hear back.
