Spouse visa extension - English language

Post by abz79 » Wed May 27, 2020 11:07 pm

hi there,
I am going to extend my wife's visa extension. when she got her entry clearance visa she sat for A1 life skills exam to prove English proficiency.
now she needs to sit for A2 to meet the language requirements.
because of current circumstances, there wasn't any exam held.
instead of doing A2 exam if she obtained NARIC letters (degree equivalent & English assessment) is this acceptable ?
her visa is going to expire on 30/05/2020. we already made the online application. just waiting for the UKVCAS appointment and NARIC letter.

Please let know if anyone has got the same situation like me .

Many thanks,

Thank you so much !!
A big relief for me.

The below link confused me,
https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/knowledge-of-english

"You can prove your knowledge of English by passing an approved English language test with at least a CEFR level A1 in speaking and listening.
If you want to settle permanently in the UK within 5 years
If you took the CEFR A1 when you first applied for your visa, you’ll need to take a CEFR A2 test when you apply to stay after 2.5 years.
If you did not need to do the CEFR A1 when you first applied for your visa but you need to do it now, you’ll need to pass it when you apply to stay after 2.5 years."

Thanks again !

The below link confused me,
Perhaps due to the following paragraph being missed to read on same link:
Knowledge of English
You may need to prove your knowledge of the English language when you apply.

You can prove it with an academic qualification, or by taking a test.

Hi there,
Is anyone able to manage UKVCAS appointment since 1st of June?
As I know UKVCAS is reopened from 1st of June but while I was checking their website
for appointment I have seen no appointment available until 7th July in Croydon.

Does it mean they didn't start their normal activities yet ?

Thanks in advance.

I think they have started their operations but due to observing strict social distancing rules & clearing the previous backlog they are actually giving more priority to those who are vulnerable or have submitted their application far earlier.

Hi all,

Just got an email from UKVI regarding the appointment. They said they are not going to call for face to face interview/appointment instead they will take the facial image somehow.

Also they will use the previous biometric for the current application.

Please update if anyone got the same response from UKVI.

Many thanks in advance.

There has been reports of applicants getting mails stating that they HO will use the record / fingerprints they hold on file already from previous biometrics appointment.
