Extension of family visa

Post by Lind » Tue Jun 09, 2020 6:28 pm

Hey,
I'm asking for a friends:
She has a family visa (spouse) and it expires next month.
My friend need to pass the A2 English test for the application but because of the COVID-19 she can’t even so this test.
What can she do?
Thanks.

Many members have reported booking tests.

She must however apply online and submit and pay BEFORE her visa expires.

If she does the English test after this but before her biomterics appointment, it will be fine. No one is being penalised due to the COVID issue and business closures.

It appears applicants can claim an exemption where the centres were closed.

In their more recent update, UKVI have stated
Changes to the English language requirement

If you’re asked to take an English language test as part of your application, you can apply for an exemption if the test centre was closed or you couldn’t travel to it due to coronavirus when you applied.

How can I apply for an exemption?

The exemption applies to those who already applied online during the lockdown and could take or travel to do the test. The circumstances you describe are not the same.

Many test centres are open now and members have been booking their tests.
