Hi All,

I will be eligible to apply for British citizenship on 26 March 2020.
I am planning to book a 7-days holiday overseas so I have to have my passport with me.
At the same time I do not want to postpone my application so I will apply for on 26th March 2020.
Then I will have a biometric appointment few days later (up to 1 month based on free slots and locations)

Then it will take about two months to get approval and within these two months I can freely travel with my passport. Is it correct?

Question 2: The earliest time which I can submit my application is 26th March 2020, isn't it? (My ILR issued 26th March 2019)

After you submit application and do biometrics, there normally will be no further communication from HO, until the day you get an envelope in the post - with hopefully a positive decision. Once this letter arrives you will need to call your local council within 2-3 weeks to arrange a citizenship ceremony (which can be postponed for 1-2 months). So you can travel extensively, provided someone monitors your post.
There is also s small probability though, that while considering your application HO might send you a letter requesting original documents (including your passport). If you plan to only be away for a week, that should not be an issue, since it seems they give 2-3 weeks window for sending documents.

My husband and I received our ILR on 26th March 2019 (5 years stay Tier2 ).
We will be eligible for citizenship on 26th March 2020.
Does it mean that we need to wait till 26th March to fill online form through below link or we can fill online form now and book appointment for 26th March or after?

You need 12 full months on ilr. The date of application is the date you submit and pay online. The date of your biometric appointment is irrelevant.

There is no apply within 28 days early concession for citizenship.

Question 1: Can I travel overseas after attending the biometrics appointment? When I have to be back in the UK? after receiving the approval letter because I have to return my BRP card in 5 days? So whenever I receive approval, I have to be back in the UK within 5 days?

Question 2: If I postpone my travel until I attend biometrics and receive approval letter, then I have to send back my BRP card. So I won't be able to travel overseas because I won't be able to get back to the UK, is that right? So I need to wait for ceremony which may takes several months.

My dad is sick and I have to visit him, would you please tell me when is the best time?
Will I be stuck in the UK after receiving approval letter till I get my British passport?probably several months

You are free to travel.

Note you only become British once you attend the British Ceremony which you will book after the approval letter.

In normal circumstances it has to be booked within 21 days of the approval date and you must attend within 90 days after approval date but due to the current situation it may take longer anyways (you will not be penalised for that).

You are free to travel but make sure someone is there to receive your post/approval letter etc so you can book the next step that is the ceremony. Sometimes HO may ask for additional documents also so best to keep an eye on the post/email.

Until you attend the ceremony, you will NOT be british and continue travelling on your ILR. ILR BRP has to be returned within 5 days after the ceremony.

Unclear why you want to submit such a large amount of completely unnecessary documents. You are not making an immigration application.

I have an appointment for naturalisation very soon. I am uploading my documents and I have two questions:
(5 Years stay visa Tier 2 + 1 year ILR)

• Do I need to upload my previous passport (from my home country)?
  Do I need to upload all pages of my passport (both new or old)?

I have read in the forum that people will answer yes to both my questions but my husband does not accept and he needs me to prove it! He believes we provided our travel history during ILR application last year and there is no need to do it again. Is it really necessary to upload them?

You posted the same question four times - you receive answers as & when forum members wish to reply ....

You upload your current passport - biometric and stamped pages only. ILR is a separate application and you need to provide the information that is required by the AN application (this is not an immigration application!).

ILR is a separate application and you need to provide the information that is required by the AN application (this is not an immigration application!).

Passport(s) covering your qualifying period i.e. 5 years or 3 years (if married to a BC). I would advise to upload full passport(s) as there have been cases where Home Office asks for full passport(s) later on.
