Tier 2 visa extension while passport is about to expire

Hello,

My daughter is born is UK and her passport (minor's passport with 5 years validity) is about to expire in Sept'2020. We are due for our Tier 2 employee sponsored visa extension in August'2020 but not finding UKVCAS appointments to book.

In case we get an UKVCAS appointment before our visa expiry then 'about to expire' passport of our daughter will create any issues? On the other hand if we don't get visa appointment before September then is it advisable to first get the passport extended and then book an appointment?

You cannot book an appointment before you submit and pay the online form.

Hi

We have submitted the extension application and paid the fees - so waiting for UKVCAS confirmation to book an appointment. The only problem is - UKVCAS has huge backlog of applications so not sure when we can get the appointment.

She needs a valid passport to apply. It should be valid for online submission and biometric appointment date as it is used to confirm her identity.

This means as we already submitted the application (as well paid the fees) for Tier2 extension with her passport (due to expire in Sept'20) - there should not be any issue if we get the UKVCAS appointment after the passport expiry? Unfortunately VFS also very limited (?) slots for passport applications.
