Spouse VISA extension preparation

Post by taddo12 » Sun Jul 12, 2020 9:34 pm

My wife was granted a spouse visa in September 2018 which will expire in June 2021. We'd like to prepare as much as possible but want to clarify what is required.

We're living together in my owned property, I've been receiving an income the entire time earning above the required amount, previously contracting via Ltd Co and paying myself with dividends, now umbrella receiving a weekly salary (paying PAYE). My wife was previously employed part time but due to covid was made redundant and will hopefully find something else when things open up again.

My concern is that the only document we've had sent to our address in both of our names is the occasional gas bill and council tax, and these are not regular.

Furthermore I've read that she will have to demonstrate an improved English ability?

Any help or advice much appreciated, thanks very much

Click here to get an idea of the requirements.

At least CEFR A2 need to meet the English language requirement for extension.

Thanks, have taken a look already although the gov site is scant as usual on specifics. Noted regarding A2, will start preparing, thanks.

Besides utility bills any correspondence exchanged either in joint or individual names can be utilized.

Thanks for your response, the only issue is that we don't have constant correspondence since 2018 when she moved in. So far we've got:

Joint utility bill dated Sept 18
NHS letter for her Oct 18
Joint council tax dated Jan 19
Her bank account statement April 19
NHS letter for her Aug 19
Joint council tax dated March 20

Going forward we've asked for more regular broadband & utility statements for the next 11 months but not much for 2019, is this enough?

In line with her expiry date - June 2021 the relevant period will be June 2019 - June 2021

Thanks, I read that they have to be from multiple sources and spaced by no more than 3 months?

Can I ask how much flexibility is there with this request? Can we print out historic statements if we haven't received them in the past? If we don't have the full period from 3 separate sources will the application be outright rejected?

Yes but date of its issuance/printing/downloading won't be changed retrospectively

It will entirely depends on individual caseworker. But as per your previous post you actually have evidences from 3 sources.
