Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I have not been able to get any sort of response from Essex Council, they wouldn't even tell me if they are resuming ceremonies. They just said I have to wait until I get an invitation in the post.

I called my council today and they confirmed that they have received my certificate. They will call me next week to arrange the ceremony. I still have not received the invitation though.

Are virtual ceremonies free or we have to pay for that service?

Most Councils received them yesterday, but was informed are for late March?early April approvals. The good news is the resumption of the ceremonies!

Received email from my council today that ceremony will resume. They have asked for my number that someone will call me on Monday to book me in. I got approval early June so I have not received invitation.

I rang the council to confirm if they had my certificate, they told me they have my details already but no paper work has come through meaning they are yet to receive my certificate. They however, confirm that they will be calling those who had their booking cancel due to COVID first and then and they will be calling others as soon as they receive certificates from HO.

Good news for those that their council have commence ceremonies. Which everyone good luck.

My approval was for the 15th of June and my Council informed me the certificates they received yesterday are for late March and early April approvals. It will be helpful if members with March/April can confirm pls.

Virtual cermony is free as you already pain in your Citizenship application. Only private ceremonies you need to pay. I have no idea if there is any private virtual cermony or how councils will arrange pvt virtual ceremonies

I know some people got the invitation letter just in past couple of days and booked the ceremony, so in short HO already started sending invitations too along sending certificates to the councils.

My registration was approved in Mar 2020 and I applied for ceremony just before lockdown. The date of ceremony was in May 2020 but it was cancelled. Since then I have called council (warrington) several times but everytime same repsonse was that they have no fixed date yet to restart ceremonies. My Indian passport is expired now, so can't travel anywhere ceremony is sorted.

My most recent answer from last week was that they carried out risk assessment, now waiting for confirmation and looking to restart ceremonies within next few weeks. So to me it looks like each council is doing it at their own pace but whats the most crucial is when actually HO will send certificates.

In my case I received the invitation letter and booked ceremony just before lockdown, so I guess the council must have received the registration that’s why they were able to book me ?
