IELTS for Tier 2 visa

Post by psteyn179 » Sat Jul 25, 2020 9:47 am

Good day,

I applied online and submitted all payments for my UK visa on 18 March 2020. Then Covid happened and the world came to a standstill.
After the visa application center reopened, I submitted my biometrics and documents at VAC. (01/07/2020)
I received a email from the DMC requesting my IELTS, this vas strange to me because I handed in IELTS. IELTS that I wrote was IELTS GENERAL graded C1. To my dismay, they requested the IELTS with ukvi number. I never knew that there is a difference between the two. It was never even asked if my application is for a UK visa.
I am concerned that my application will be rejected on a small technicality.
DMC gave me 10 days to submit the certificate, but British Council Namibia for IELTS doen not even offer the IELTS for UKVI neither is there any other SELT available in Namibia. We all know that the application is very costly and money isn't lying around for another application. I am also concerned about my Certificate of sponsorship and worried that the employer will become fed up.
I kindly seek any assistance available.

Kind Regards,
Pieter

The tier 2 general ukvi page clearly states what tests are required.

You need to take the specific IELTS test as CR001 mentioned, UKVI number is required because it stores in HO's system.

See if other tests beside IELTS are available in your area: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... .2020_.pdf

If not, could you travel somewhere in a nearing country that runs this test?
You got C1, so no need any preparation for IELTS for UKVI, since it only requires B1.

Thank you for the reply.

I have concluded the following.

IELTS, LanguageCert and Pearson service for ukvi is either suspended, cancelled or not available.
Country is not internationally listed (2020).
There are no flights available to neighbouring countries (for the time being) and economically not feasible.

I need the IELTS UKVI number on the certificate. Although I have IELTS general C1 it will not be enough to support my application.

No available SELT centres to attempt to obtain the required certificate locally. When they reopen, months will have passed by and my opportunity lost.

No other means to prove my English although IELTS general is recognised and approved globally, I still don't have a foot to stand on.

Very frustrating circumstances.

That's unfortunate indeed, this missing document will reject the application.

I assume you've given your biometric details already? If not, then you can withdraw and get your refund. If you have done it you can give it a shot and ask HO to refund it.

You can explain due to covid you're not able to retake the IELTS because it requires travel.

"If you have already given your biometric information but are unable to travel to the UK because of coronavirus, send an email to the coronavirus immigration help centre. They will let you know if your fee will be refunded or not.
Use ‘POST BIOMETRIC REFUND REQUEST’ as the subject line.
The help centre will reply as soon as possible."

Fingers crossed

Get NARIC U.K. equivalency for your degree. They have fast track service that provides certificate in 2 working
days.
Make sure you’re applying in the correct NARIC category for tier 2

Was NARIC obtained via red route? If yes then it’s applicable to use.
It must also mention English assessment.

If not call NARIC on the number and tell them your visa type they will assist you.
