Applying from within UK

Post by AslamRZ » Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:59 am

Hi Experts, looking for your usual expert advise...

Completed foundation year and Tier 4 expiring first week of August and new course starting 14th September which is after 28 days... and hence travel to home country is must however, India is a high risk of exposure to COVID-19. Therefore just for few days Gap can we apply from within the UK?

Will be receiving CAS later this week...

Please advise...

Thanks in anticipation.

There is a specific concession for this, if you apply on or before 31 July.

See UKCISA's info about the concession under "Applying in the UK when this is not normally possible":

Thank sah10406 for your response, the concession referring to urgency and University is of different opinion and we haven't received the CAS yet... Hence apply prior 31st July is not possible. Appreciate your further guidance.. Thanks

I suggest getting advice on your options from your university.

the concession to apply before 31st July 20 has been removed as of today morning (29th jul’20)

And it’s not clear if people having visa expiry post 31st July can apply from the UK or not .

Yes, that's weird, but I can't really see applications being refused purely on that basis of the concession being removed from the guidance two days early.

That's for sure. It's clear from the guidance that it is a grace period not further leave, but the wording also suggests that maybe applications can be made during the grace period. That will hopefully be clarified very soon.

Yes, UKCISA is right that removing the provision when it still had 3 days left to run was strange and unreasonable. They no longer recommend applying on that basis, but I would recommend getting professional one-to-one advice on it before deciding for sure.
