Tier 2 General English Language skills

Post by xor83 » Mon Jul 27, 2020 2:55 pm

Today I got email from UK Immigration to provide "English Language skills" Level B1 withing 10 days. I contacted local IELTS centers and they told me that it will take around 1 month to get certificate. Will it be okay to send details to UK immigration after 10 days as they requested in email? Will this create any issues?

Please advice

The English requirement and approved tests is clearly stated on ukvi's website. Did you miss it or submit a test that is not accepted or not an approved test?

My uk employer and VFS both told me that I don't need English test and today I got this email.

It is the applicants responsibility to ensure they meet the requirements and submit all the supporting documents. It always has been the applicants responsibility. If you are from India as your flag suggests, you are also not from an English test exempt country.

Your employer is not an immigration expert or agent. Why would they tell you that you don't need to submit something when it is clearly stated in the guidance and the immigration rules.

VFS is only a third party agent.

Knowledge of English
You may need to prove your knowledge of the English language when you apply.

You can prove your knowledge of English by either:

passing an approved English language test with at least CEFR level B1 in reading, writing, speaking and listening
having an academic qualification that was taught in English and is recognised by UK NARIC as being equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD
You may be able to meet the English language requirement in other ways or need a higher level of English in some circumstances. Check the full visa guidance for detailed information.

Exceptions
You will not need to prove your knowledge of English if you’re a national of one of the following countries:

Antigua and Barbuda
Australia
the Bahamas
Barbados
Belize
Canada
Dominica
Grenada
Guyana
Jamaica
New Zealand
St Kitts and Nevis
St Lucia
St Vincent and the Grenadines
Trinidad and Tobago
USA
You also may not have to prove your knowledge of English in other circumstances - check the visa guidance.

You need to do an approved test from an approved test provider, as per the list in the link below. I would strongly suggest you do NOT do the academic tests for a tier 2 visa.

If you cannot submit the evidence within 10 days, you will need to ask for an extension to the time otherwise the visa will be refused.

Useful to state that it must be a test done at a set centre and not the online test, which is not accepted for UK visas.
