Can I apply visit again before current visa expires?

Hi,
My mother has a valid visit visa until 15 Oct 2020. However, due to the pandemic, her flight has been canceled twice. Now, she has a flight end of Sep-20. However, she wants to visit for 3 months.

Will she be able to apply for a visit visa again in Aug-20 (this Month) while she has a valid visa until 15 Oct 2020 so that she can prolong her stay?

I would be very grateful to you if you could advise how she can apply or what other options she has.

I understand from your post that your mother holds a visa that is nearing expiry date before even she had the opportunity to use it.

So indeed she can apply again.

However, if she used it by coming to the UK and she wants another visa back to back, this won't be a good idea.

Thank you for your kind replies. She haven't used her existing visa yet. Also, not sure whether the flight on 20th Sep will operate. So, we wanted to apply visit visa again so that she can at least spent few months here.
I hope HO will not consider it negatively.

Better to apply for a new visa. In the new application, enter details of the unused visa and in additional note/cover letter state not used due to validity was mostly within the pandemic and or no flight period.
