Hey guys,
I searched the forum extensively before posting. Apologies if I've missed any topic that matches this one.
My Mum, who is an EU national and currently residing on the Continent will be permanently moving to the UK to join my father (EU national as well, with ILR) who has been living here for years.
All this in an attempt to arrange her status before the government closes the EU permanent migration routes.
She is a pensioner, will be living here in a self-sufficient capacity (her pension is rather generous), will probably take some part-time work and my father is in full-time employment as well.
My question is, when would be the right time for her to formally apply for pre-settled status? Has anyone tried applying right after arriving and obtaining NiNO?
Our plan is to open a bank account for her, arrange a NiNO interview, etc. which should (in theory) give us enough evidence to support a pre-settled status application under the scheme.
Does all of this make any sense? Shall we wait for a few months or apply a month or so after her arrival? She is flying to the UK in late September / early October.
Also, if anyone had been in a similar situation before, would transferring her pension payments from the tax authority in her country of origin to the UK (via HMRC) help support any application? Would it be neccesary at all? It's a lenghty process but can be arranged I hear.
Many thanks in advance.
