Hi Please I would like to check if my wife can switch from her spouse dependent visa (she is within the first 2.5 years) to indefinite leave using our child's British status, without going through the second extension.

No. She has to stay on spouse visa for 5 years and meet all other visa requirements to get ILR.
Child status is irrelevant.
