Naturalisation- Question regarding Absence

Post by karthik_513 » Tue Sep 01, 2020 8:47 pm

Hi All -

My question is regarding my absence.

I got my ilr in June 2016 - Expiry date : Dec 2024.

Since then, totally i have been outside the country for 12 months ( approx 365 days ) as below :

June 2016 - may 2017 - 1 months
June 2017 - may 2018 - 1 months
June 2018 - may 2019 - 2 months
June 2019 - Oct 2020 - 8 months (still outside the country due to pandemic and will be returning next month)

When will be the best to apply for naturalisation ? ? - My guess would be Nov 2021 ( provided I don’t have any more absence for the next 12 months ) - Am I right ?

Thanks for you time .

Refer to page 11 of the guidance:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... uly_20.pdf

- Normal permitted absences in Qualifying Period (5 yrs) = 450 days
- of which Normal permitted absences in final 12 months of your qualifying period 90 days

It would appear you have some leeway - however Oct/Nov 20201 sounds about right
