Thanks, Cullinan. I totally agree with your sentiment and you're 100% right. Its the same message we'd get from the Home Office. However, two points to note.CULLINAN wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 9:28 pmAlthough some of the applicants have been VERY lucky to receive very quick decisions after biometrics, you have to understand that NOT everyone get a quick decision and mileage may vary case to case.
Every case is decided on its own merits. You may think your case is straight forward but ANY single outstanding enquiry can cause delays/require more time.
I hope everyone is lucky to get a quick decision but getting impatient is pointless since you can NOT compare your individual case to anyone else’s circumstance.
The standard processing time for majority visa categories is 6 months and the 2/3 weeks decision turnaround after biometrics (some reported) may not apply in ALL cases.
From an applicant's perspective, this is an exceedingly stressful time. The combination of (i) Covid, (ii) the current economic climate (especially for those of us applying off the back of a Tier 2) (iii) inability to travel for those who haven't been able to see family and (iv) general uncertainty in the world makes it very difficult to avoid impatience.
The second point to note is that, while I agree every case is different, judging by the timeline thread and this thread it seems at least 80% of cases have 'quick decisions' (7 days or less). We've all forked out the same £2.4k application fee plus whatever other appointment fees UKVI has milked from us. So there should be some level of fairness in decision times. I think this is magnified by the IDV app fiasco where UKCVAS expressly said "if you urgently need a decision about your application, (for example because you need to travel outside of the UK), the option to book an appointment is still available." The clear implication here is that opting out would result in a quicker decision (as has been discussed ad nauseum). Now of course this was by no means a guarantee, but the fact this hasn't been honoured is very disheartening.
I hope you don't mind some of us voicing our frustrations amongst each other. I do appreciate your moderation style of keeping things very matter of fact and reminding us of the bigger picture.
