Citizenship ceremonies on 3rd July 2020

It's the same one as when you renew your irp. That's why I think the ceremonies are definitely happening this year. Cause they keep updating it. Each person will be part of a group so that means that they plan to do it in large scale

A critical consideration is the protection of the welfare and safety of the participants and the general public. It is also essential that any arrangements put in place ensure that the event is held with an appropriate degree of dignity and solemnity, as befits an event of such importance in the lives of our newest citizens. Still surprised though, how can this review of the pilot ceremony can take two long months and still there is no ceremony date
Not satisfied with the performance of this department and never was. They play with the applicants minds and emotions apparently. If nothing is announced in the next few days, I suggest we do take some serious action.

I agree with the frustration we are all having here, but to be fair I think the delay in announcing the next ceremony has several items to consider:

• interactions between employees within the Citizenship division are severely slowed down. Some or most of us are now working remotely, we can tell how difficult it become to communicate with our colleagues
• government offices work at reduced capacity during summer months. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Dail resumed work only this month
• there's work for the new minister to take over from old one, probably go over all the things they need to take over, etc

I'm one of those who handed over their IRP card in February and check this website every day. I think we will get a concrete answer probably by the end of this month, so there's a chance we can get ceremonies in November hopefully.

Completely agree.
There were some 64 people working in the citizenship department going through thousands of applications. Let’s not forget annual leave, sick leave, and two who take calls every Tues & Thurs. Honestly not easy for them.

In a wee bit of a conundrum here:

I had to travel as a grandparent was unwell and subsequently passed after I got there. Country subsequently went into lockdown and international airspace closed. I’m waiting for things to reopen and my IRP expired in July 2020. I’ll need to apply for a visa. Wrote to the GNIB office in my city (outside Dublin) and have an appointment for late Jan 2021 (earliest available!).

To add to this, I’ve been at the advanced stage of my citizenship application and my FOI request shows they had everything they needed in December/Jan but my file wasn’t submitted to be signed off.

God alone knows where this is going to work! Bizarre epoch indeed. Now that we’re in autumn with winter approaching, influenza is truly going to hit with covid and we’re bound to see something much worse from late December to March next year. (Physician here.). Again, God alone knows what’s going to happen. I wonder if they’d let me take part in an e-ceremony if things move along quickly.

To be honest it was the same number of people when passports were being issued in the given 5 to 6 months period of time. It s probably just the unfair way they have dealt with the applications in the recent years. They gave approval to people applying in 2019 and kept people from 2016 to 2018 waiting in the last few ceremonies.

They say applications are dealt with in chronological order, but their is no order.

When they say, your application continues to be processed.

It means, it continues to get ignored.

When they say, all applicants would want their applications to get processed as soon as possible.

They mean to add to this sentence, we dont care if the applicants want this.

It s all copied and pasted replies and it only takes you a couple of hours to copy and paste and reply hundreds of emails in a single day and what funny enough is that they do the same to the TDs as well.

All of us have faced tough and difficult circumstances due to COVID 19 and a lot of us would have lost their jobs, couldn't travel [like myself] or travelled but got stuck, like in the above example. I think it would have been great if they realise these real problems that the applicants are facing, rather than keeping hundreds and thousands of people waiting and taking more and more time.

20000 applicants mean a rough certificate fee of 20000000. [Just an estimated fee as each applicant pays 950 euro for the certificate, so total would be around 19 to 20 Million].
That amount of money is not a joke guys. They cannot say that they cannot afford more employees or resources, especially now that it s all going to be online and not in a hall or something.

But they will not admit that they have been unfair towards their customers and have kept them waiting for nothing. They can even hire temps to do this job, but again, only if they want to. This will only help the economy and the unemployed people. So I dont think that the head count is an issue here. The issue is their will to do it. They dont will and wish to clear the stupid massive backlog.

I believe the Citizenship Ceremonies Update. 9th, 2020 such as a local anaesthetic. As it wears off, the winter hits and Ireland "well into a second wave" of COVID-19, it is not yet clear what the impact of that second wave will be.
Therefore, I expect during the Covid-19 safety guideline will postpone again. Means will leave in a limbo for 2 or 3 years.

However, due to update no one will agree to take some serious action with you

I understand all that bro, but it s their job to find alternative solutions for us and they literally get paid for this. We, the applicants, pay them millions for these things from our hard earned wages and salaries.
