Remaining GNIB Renewal period

Post by Narbukra » Mon Sep 14, 2020 9:15 am

Hello

I have Stamp 4 on the basis of being the parent of an Irish citizen child which is issued for 3 years.
At last renewal, I was granted only 2 years since my passport will expire in 2 years.
The officer said that I should have the outstanding period at my next renewal.
Now I renewed my passport and need to renew my IRP which expired.

Will I have 1 year free of charge to complete the 3 years?

Anyone has had the same experience before?

Thank you

My Stamp 4 issued for 3 years, at last renewal, I was granted only 1 year because my passport will expire in 1 year, the officer said that I should have the outstanding period at my next renewal. I got the remaining 2 years on my new passport free.

Thank you johnpromise01.
When did you received the remaining period? Was that recent?
The current online registration system does not allow to waive renewal fees.
Any ideas how I can claim the remaining period for free using the online system?

The guideline is very clear. You will get the remainder of the 3-year permission free of charge. You need to directly contact the Burgh quay office by email, instead of using the online platform.

This is simply in the first notice on the INIS home page.

Thank you again littlerr. I juts cannot find that notice.
On the home page, I see Notice 1 issued on 27 April 2020, Notice 2 on 21 August 2020, Notice 3 on 18 August 2020, etc. None mention how to claim the remainder of the 3 years free of charge.
Appreciate your help!

Just open Notice 1...
http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Immigrat ... 9-FAQ4.pdf
Q 54. My permission was restricted due to the expiry of my passport. Can I use the online system to claim
the remainder of my permission on my new passport?
A. No. Please do not apply for the remainder of your permission online. Applications for the balance
of permission previously granted should be submitted by email to the Registration Office at
burghquayregoffice@justice.ie There will be no charge for the balance of this permission.

It’s up to the officer. You should get a 3-year stamp but the officer has the authority to give you a shorter period.
