I am in the process of bringing my child who was born in Ghana to the UK. I am having difficulty proving sole responsibility. She currently lives with a family friend. I send monthly remittances, pay school fees, hospital bills and make major decisions in her life. I can get letters from her school and GP backing up sole responsibility. Do I have to let my baby mama also write a letter stating she is not involved in the child's upbringing or I should totally exclude her? Stating any other documents I need to submit will gladly be welcomed. Thanks

Hi, I had PR and recently applied for the eu settlement scheme. I have been granted settled status. I am in the process of submitting a settlement visa for my daughter in Ghana. Do I go ahead with the same application as if I held PR? I am divorced from my eu wife.

You cannot sponsor your child under the EU rules or EU settlement scheme if you are not an EU citizen.
You have to apply under the much more expensive UK visa route.
Where is the child's other parent?
You would still need to prove sole responsibility as you were already advised in August when you asked.

Thanks for the swift reply. Her mom is in Ghana and I am proving sole responsibility. So I can continue as it is?

How are you proving sole responsibility?
What official documents are you submitting?

CR001,
I think you misunderstood him. He is divorced and no longer with his eu wife. The child’s mother is in Ghana and not eu. Can he sponsor his child since he now has settled status?

I did NOT misunderstand him. I clearly stated he cannot use the EU route and has to use the UK immigration route AND prove sole responsibility.
I never ONCE said the child's mother in Ghana was an EU citizen.

Hi,
I have applied for a settlement visa for my daughter and received an IHS reference number. I made no payment. Are they going to get back with an IHS payment link? Thanks

For child with the need for IHS payment you will be sent a link to use for the payment.
The reference number you mentioned, whatwas it for?

Perhaps that glitch giving exemption to none-British children from IHS has partially been rectified. Most likely you will be asked to pay it during any stage.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

I hope so. Wanted to know if there's been any experiences on the forum.

So a quick update on my girl's application. She was granted her settlement visa yesterday and I didn't need to pay IHS.
Thank you all
