Hi. I am a UK citizen and my wife lives in India. She is just about to submit her settlement visa application. She was showing the agent who is helping her apply, our application. She showed him our marriage photos and marriage certificate. We had an arranged marriage via a civil ring ceremony last year and everything went really well. The photos that we have submitted are of the ring ceremony and a few family photos etc. We did not have a religious marriage. But the agent guy started asking her questions like, "why haven't you got any pictures with both of you with garlands around your head and going round a fire", ermmm..maybe because we didn't have all that stuff at our ring ceremony. Why should we have that if we legitimately got married anyway???
He's got us paranoid, but the truth is we got married that day very simply and we have the certificate and the TRUE photos to prove it. It seems stupid to think that just because two people don't have garlands around their heads, it is not evidence of a marriage.
Will we get rejected becuse of this?
