Citizenship application

Post by Yasmin123 » Fri Sep 11, 2020 3:03 pm

Hi,

I am going to apply for citizenship next month 05th October as my one year time would be completed next month. I got my ILR on ten years basis. I have couple of questions.

1. What documents do I need to show. As at time of ILR I have already scanned my documents on sopra stera so they should have my Life in Uk and my passport copies.

2. Can I apply now and book the date in 05th October. In that case would that be consider as early apply?
3. What is IDV app
4. I know it is silly but still I am gonna ask, any idea when the super priority would be open?
5. How long the process takes in this pandemic?

Thanks

There is no superpriority for citizenship applications. Citizenship applications are not immigration applications.

Also see this long-running thread. People who were approved in February-March are only just getting their citizenship ceremonies done.

Applications within the UK are now online:
https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... 1585998365
Guidance for applications - if you don't have it already:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance

UKVCAS (https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/home-internal) are the contractors for UKVI dealing with receipt of applications and you will make a biometrics appointment with them online, once you have submitted and paid for your application. Note that you can upload all documents online, no need for originals to be submitted. The review and approval are still handled by UKVI.

You can start on drafting your application but you must complete your 12 months post-ILR before submitting your application.

You need to upload all the documents needed for the naturalisation application, irrespective of whether some were already loaded for your ILR application. Presumably for ILR you needed more documents with more complex requirements. As @secret.simon pointed out Naturalisation isn't an immigration application and has different requirements based on the British Nationality Act rather than immigration regulations.
Appreciate it doesn't make sense to upload things multiple times but it's best to follow the instructions rather than assuming the relevant UKVI directorate know all the facts already.

Hi,

I have a quick question. Can I give two company directors as references?

Thanks.

Hi,

Can someone please reply my question. As I have seen they ask for professional reference while the two directors are a simple company directors and they don't have professional background.

Thanks in advance

You need one referee who is British and over 25.

The other referee can be if any nationality and just be in the list, page 24 in the link below.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... y-guidance

Both must have known you for 3 years.

Hi CR001, do both referees have to be 25 and over? or just one? what if they are both professionals, one is over 25 and the other is 24?

The referee must:
• have known the (adult) applicant for at least 3 years
• a British passport holder and either a professional person or aged over 25 (at least one referee must be a professional person)
I suspect that the use of either-or was a mistake? The way they have written it seems to exclude a professional person who is aged over 25?

Hi,

I have just check in referee form it says both referee do not relate with each other.

My referees are directors of same company. Do you think that would be a problem?

Second question once completed the form what shall I do? Do I have to give them physically at the time of biometric finger print or do I need to upload them with rest of my documents?

Also I am apply base on 10 years + ILR and below documents which I’m submitting

3 passports (every page scan)
Life in Uk
English test
BRP card

Do you think above documents are enough or do I need to submit more.

Thanks

Should be okay, unless they are related with each other.

Hi Venny

What they mean by word “relate” . Is it word relationship? Because they are just friends and directors of same company. Nothing else

Also someone can answer my other questions as well I would be truly indebted as tomorrow I have to submit my form

Thanks

Related roughly speaking means close relatives or living in the same household.
Friends and colleagues are OK

1. You have to upload the physically signed referee forms with your documents.

2. Citizenship is based on the last 5 years. Your route to ilr and how long you have lived in the UK is completely irrelevant to this. Your documents, minimal, is fine.
