Naturalisation Application - Newly Self-Employed

Post by evalenti93 » Mon Sep 21, 2020 2:15 pm

Hello All

I am currently sorting out my documentation for my Naturalisation application. I'm applying as Married to a UK citizen and I've been in the UK for 17 years (better late than never).

My question is around employment. Due to redundancy in April this year I've become self-employed and am curtrently working a short term contract. However since I am newly self-employed I don't have any tax returns to submit. Should I just ignore this and instead submit my P60 for 2019/20?

Thank you

You should state your current status "self-employed" and add/attach a note stating you have only just started working for yourself and therefore no self-assessment returns available.

As a non-EU applicant you don't need to attach P60s - your passport(s) covering the residency period are sufficient (EU citizens don't get stamps in their passports).

Thank you. Would it be OK the note and upload it where the self-employment information is requested? I've already submitted my application.

If you can still upload do that with your other documents.

Citizenship ukcvas documents upload

Post by evalenti93 » Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:37 am

Hi,

Apologies for a long-winded question but I'm finding that the UKVCAS site isn't particularly clear on which sections I should be loading my docuemnts into. Can someone please confirm which forms should be uploaded where (or whether it makes a difference)?

- Proof of Application
This asks for m Passport - I've put man pages and all stamped pages here - is that too much?

- Other
I've put my LIUK proof here as well as my wife's passort info

- Residence in UK
I've put my ILR document here

- Proof of Business
I've put my self-assesment statement here

- Life Events
I've put my Marriage certificate here

- Medical Information
I've left blank

- Sponsors/Employment
I've put my two referee statements here.

- Proof of Identity/Travel History
I've put my Passport here again - should I remove as I've already included this above?

- Educational
I've left blank

To clarify, I was asked to provide the following in my Checklist

- The passport issued by United States of America for Mr XXX
- Proof of living in the UK for Mr XXX for 5 years if applying in your own right or 3 years if applying as the spouse of a British Citizen
- Your marriage or civil partnership certificate
- Mr XXXs proof of freedom from immigration time restrictions
- The United States of America passport, identity card or official letter for Mr XXX to prove the level of English language required
- Two referee declarations for Mr XXX
- Mr XXXs most recent tax year account statement and corresponding HMRC tax return as proof of self-employment
- One proof of British citizenship for Mrs XXX (such as a passport or UK citizenship certificate)

Thanks again in advance for your help - I have my biometric appointment next week in B'ham and I'm getting nervous already!

@evalenti93

I would suggest:

Upload wife’s passport in proof of application.
LIUK in education.
Self assessment in employment.
ILR in proof of identity. No need to upload passport twice.
