ILR - 28 days

Post by sanfair » Wed Sep 10, 2008 12:50 pm

I went for my ILR appointment today and didn't get it.

My FLR visa expires on 04/10/08 but because they lost my application for FLR back in 2006, they ended up only giving it to me in Dec 06 and backdated it to Oct 06 (Why October? Who knows? As I sent in the original application in June 06)

They told me in no uncertain terms that I can't apply because of the 28 days before expiry rule. I can't apply until a full month AFTER my visa has expired.
They've taken my application and promised to process it then so hopefully I don't have to worry about it.

I'm really annoyed though. Does this make sense to anyone?

Applying for settlement in the United Kingdom wrote:You must not send us your application more than 28 days before the end of your qualifying period. If you do, we may refuse your application with no refund of the fee. However, you must make your application before your current permission to stay in the United Kingdom expires.
